In live in Ashbourne with my wife Grace and 2 daughters Bella (born 27th November 2011) and Mia (born 10th November 2013), and also Alfie our little Boxer pup! Out of work I enjoy family time, going out for nice walks with the girls and Alfie and also a nice meal and a pint!!!

I started working in a Uttoxeter salon at the age of 15. I worked there whilst completing my NVQ Level 1, 2 & 3 at Stoke College. As a child I never knew what I wanted to do so my mum who was also a hairdresser suggested hairdressing, so I thought I would give it go. I then realised that I actually quite liked it and was also good at it, so continued with the career and have never looked back. I worked in the Uttoxeter salon until I was 26. It was then I felt I needed to open my own and looked in various towns until I decided that Ashbourne was the best place.  In my hairdressing career I have won many national awards and have been on the England hair dressing team!

I opened Hair by Kristian Wood in May 2010, it has always been my aspiration to have my own salon. It’s great having a chat with the clients and also seeing their hair transform and trying out new styles. I enjoy meeting everyone who comes in and have built some great friendships with clients. I can’t thank my clients enough for all the support they have shown me throughout the years, some of whom I have known since I started cutting hair at 15. I have a great team behind me and we all work well together.

I live in a village just outside of Ashbourne with my Husband Phil and our beautiful daughter Eva who will be turning 3 in October. I have lived in Ashbourne my whole life with my family. I have a horse called Gov and a Beagle pup called Hettie.

In my spare time I love being outdoors and going for long rides on my horse and walks with the family and of course the dog!!

I first started hairdressing when I finished school. I did 2 and half years training at Burton College and got my NVQ 1,2 and 3. Meanwhile I got some work experience at a Salon in Tutbury, for one day a week. After I qualified in 2009 I decided to book a ticket to New Zealand, where I went to spend some time with family. Whilst over there I worked in a Salon for 5 months which I felt was an absolutely fantastic experience. The only down side to being in New Zealand was how much I missed my family and Phil so I decided to come home.

When I was back Phil saw an advert in the local paper for a newly qualified Hairdresser for a new Salon opening in Ashbourne, I had an interview with Kristian and here I am still working for Hair by Kristian Wood 6 years later. I absolutely love my job and love what I do.

I enjoy all the variation in my work and I can’t say I enjoy one part of hair dressing more than the other. I hope to continue working at Hair by Kristian Wood Ltd for many more years with our wonderful friendly team.

Siobhan Marsh

Trainee Hairstylist

Siobhan Marsh, Hair by Kristian WoodHi I’m Siobhan. I live in Alton with my husband Greg, our two daughters Elle who is 5 and Faye who is 2, and our two dogs Meg and Ted. As a family we love going for walks, bike rides, and going on holidays in our caravan. Some of my other hobbies include music, going to festivals, yoga and baking cakes with my girls.

I am quite an artistic and creative person and after many years of saying I would love to be a hairdresser, I decided that now felt like the right time to peruse this career.

Having known Kristian and Grace as friends for a number of years, I feel really lucky that Kristian gave me the opportunity to do an apprenticeship at Hair by Kristian Wood. I can honestly say that with all the staff being so passionate, friendly and supportive, it has been the best decision I have ever made, and I couldn’t wish for a better salon to work at.

It hasn’t taken me long to settle in to salon life and I am already really enjoying getting to know all the clients as well as starting to learn lots of new skills. Alongside working in the salon I am studying at Derby college to gain my NVQ level 2 in hairdressing.

I am really loving hairdressing already and I can’t wait to keep learning and growing in order to one day be the best hairdresser that I can be.

George Hazeldine

George Hazeldine, Hair by Kristian WoodI have known Kristian since I was 6 years old and he is now my brother in law. I live in Lichfield with my mum. I am very keen to do well in the hairdressing industry. I am developing my hairdressing skills at Burton College. I have completed NVQ level 2 and am studying for Level 3 now.

My hobbies include, traveling, going to music concerts, fashion, food and of course hairdressing.

I really do love what I do and have developed such a passion for the art. I did some work experience at Hair by Kristian Wood in March 2016, I now come in more regularly and work around 4 days a week. At the moment I am still training, but I am learning very fast. Whilst at work, I enjoy meeting new people and welcoming people into the Salon. As for hairdressing, I love being creative and trying new things, this is why colouring, cutting and up do’s are my favourite part to watch and learn whilst training with Kristian and the girls.
